Makabe Hina-Mamatsuri (the Doll Festival)

Recommended Spot

This hina-doll festival was started by local residents to welcome guests to the town in the cold season. Many dolls handed down from generation to generation are displayed in the houses and shops along the town street for a month, and anyone can enter the houses to see the dolls. Makabe is an old and historic town with more than 300 storehouses (called kura), old residences and shops. Please come to see those dolls and feel a herald of spring.
