HIMATSURI (pottery festival)

Recommended Spot

Kasama no Himatsuri (Pottery Festival) annually takes place from April 29th to May 5th. Lots of ceramic works by local artists are exhibited and pottery-making demonstration is performed by the artists. This is a kind of pottery market where you can buy your favorite directly from makers.
The Kasama-yaki pottery developed from Shigaraki-yaki in the Edo period. Since then, Kasama has been famous as a pottery production district in the Kanto area.
"Kasama Tsutsuji Matsuri (Azalea Festival)" is also held at the same period. (The flowers are beautiful roughly from late April to mid-May).
